Choose To Fight

Israel 2013 | 51 minutes | Hebrew

Directed by: Itay Livne

A unique martial-arts technique developed by the grandfather is passed down to the son and grandson. A survivor of Auschwitz, Mr. Skornik fought back hard and became a renowned martial-arts teacher and decorated soldier. In this film, devoid of females, the harsh memories of persecution are passed down from father to son to grandson. In modern-day Israel, fighting back and fighting hard are still slogans and a way of life for three generations of the Skornik family. Trained by his father in a method developed by his Holocaust surviving grandfather. The film follows an extraordinary childhood of rigorous training entangled by complex family relationships in the arena that is shadowed by the past.
